Q2 2023 Financial Planning Do It Yourself (DIY) Calendar

Every financial plan incorporates short-term tactics to help you achieve your long-term objectives. Building on last quarter’s suggestions, here is what you can consider doing to bring your plan to life in the second quarter.

April/May - Do some spring cleaning

  • Know what to save and what to shred. If your file drawer is bulging with old statements, prospectuses, and utility bills from 2003, it’s time to do some culling. However, before you start to shred old financial statements and trade confirmations, make sure you have documentation regarding your cost basis.

May - Focus on Education

  • Consider opening a 529 account or other saving mechanism for your child or grandchild.

  • Help children succeed financially. Engage the children in your life in activities to help them become regular savers and conscientious spenders.

  • Educate yourself. Find a book, podcast, or blog to learn more about financial topics that interest you.

JunE - Do a Midyear Checkup

  • Check your budget. Are you sticking to your targets? If priorities have shifted, adjust accordingly.

Stay tuned for additional steps you can take in upcoming quarters to stay on track with your financial plan and investment goals. Additionally, we are always here to help. Please call your Wealth Advisor or Wealth Paraplanner with any questions about, or changes to, your financial plan.
